My 13 week old pullet(leg horn) died on the 4th of July. She was acting fine in the morning and by afternoon she could barely move. She had plenty of water and food( she always ate and drank first) I found her face down in the dirt, then woke her up. She moved a little then got up and walked a couple feet away, then about 10 hours later I found her dead. It was about 95 degrees the day before and the day she died, but they only get morning sun. Also fireworks were going off all over. I thought it would be a heart attack that killed her but she slowly died, not suddenly. Thanks for the help!

Not sure where you are or if this is your problem, but there's been several posts about sick or dying chickens due to the heat. Do a search on this site - I know I've seen other posts similar to yours. It's been over a 100 here every day (til yesterday) and my girls have 3 large oaks that provide them shade all day - you may want to consider getting a tarp to cover at least some of your run. Good luck!

Thank you, I will keep looking. She was a very high strung chicken, I wonder if she just stressed herself out???
