Day three - did not see her eat yesterday or this morning. Did see her drink a little yesterday. Somehow she made it in the coup yesterday night, but slept on floor in corner. I gave her her own little dishes of water and food. Checked this morning and she had moved to the opposite corner leaving the food untouched. Besides not walking very well, her eyes are clear and she is not panting. She closes her eyes and hides during day under the ladder to the coup.
I don't want to put her down, but I do not want to prolong her suffering. Since she somehow made it back in the coup yesterday, should I just move her out to a dog carrier and watch her for a while?
I have 26 chickens and this is the first one to have a problem.
I have been feeding them 20% protein crumbles, some treats such as strawberry tops, apples, (organic) cut up, lettuce, flax seed, plain yogurt, asparagas all organically grown. not too much of the treats.
For first 11 weeks I put broiler booster vitamins in water and another vitamin called chick starter. all vaccinated for Coccidiosis and Marek's disease. I am studying up on Newcastles, but do not think this could be it.
