Hi all. My rooster is very old; he is 13 years old. Recently, I noticed that he can't keep his coordination. He falls and cannot walk normally. He seems otherwise healthy and has no disease. I think it is due to a lack of vitamins, as I don't give him any. What would you recommend giving him?

He currently eats grains and sometimes some vegetables. Yes, he is very old, but he still looks otherwise healthy. I was recommended to get the Poultry Cell for him, as he may lack some vitamins

Thank you for the advice. I usually start giving him warm, regular chicken feed in the winter, but the rest of the time he gets mostly just grains. I sometimes feed him separately to make sure he gets enough, as he has been blind in one eye since he was about a year old (from a fight). But yeah, he would like it.

At 13years of age, you've been doing very well taking care of him.
I would keep him on his normal diet (the normal routine that you go by) and just give him some extra vitamins to see if that's help.

If you did get the Poultry Cell, you can use that. Give him a direct oral dose of 1cc per 3lbs of weight once daily every couple of days.

If you haven't gotten the Poultry Cell, then I'd go to Walmart, CVS, etc. and get a bottle of Vitamin E and B-Complex. Give him 400IU Vitamin E and 1/2tablet B-Complex daily for a couple of weeks. Give him some egg to help with the uptake of E.

Have you looked at his legs/feet to make sure that there's no scabs on the bottom of the feet or toes?

Thank you for the comprehensive instruction. That is really helpful, especially the information about dosages. I got the Poultry Cell today.

His legs look normal for his age, but, of course, they are far from being in perfect condition due to his age-related issues, such as curvature of some toes caused by arthritis.

If he's got some arthritis, this may be causing some of his problems. I don't think there's really a treatment you can administer. I have read that some seek vet care and have been provided with medication that may help with quality of life, you may want to do a little research on that.

See if the poultry cell helps. Keep us posted.

Luckily, the signs of arthritis are not serious at the moment. I will check out recent research works to at least improve his quality of life. Sure. Thank you. To be honest, I want to see how long he may live from now on.
