Meet "Narcissus"

Teenager, about 9 months old
Little guy, only 5 lbs
Good rooster. A bit on the wild side, but very tolerant.
Thinks he's bigger than he is around other chickens and birds, and thus can be a bit of an ass. Respectful of people. Calm around cats.

Free to good home. Can bring him or meet you partway if you're near my area in Aberdeen WA.

Originally, this little poof was rescued from a flock where he was different than the other chicks. He was singled out and in danger of being killed.
I brought him home and he was raised by Hyacinth, a blind hen who didn't care what he looked like.
I wanted to keep him, but living in town, I knew crowing would be a problem, and so would his hormonal teenage phase. So I looked for a veterinarian to caponize him. Having done the research, I knew it was a widely practiced procedure, done by many farmers with simple tools, and would indeed calm territorial behaviors.
However, my unexpected problem was that no veterinarian was willing to perform the surgery. I tried every local vet. Farm vets and avian vets in my state. Exotic vets. Mobile vets. Emergency vets. I reached out to universities, various livestock associations, and wildlife centers. I explored non-surgical options too. No one would help me. Even vets who were familiar with the procedure refused to see me. I explained that I was aware of the risks and willing to accept them. I was ready to pay a ridiculous amount for the surgery. Still no one would help. So here I am.
I can't keep him in town, he crows too much, and refuses to be discouraged. I've tried training but this particular bird is exceptionally stubborn.
I've tried for a long time to make this work, but it's at the point where I just consider myself lucky that I have forgiving neighbors, and he hasn't been taken away yet, nor have I been fined, but it can't go on much longer.
I can take him back if it doesn't work out. I just want him to have a good home.
