This is the 3rd day with a sick hen. We noticed her funny waddle as she walked and then her hard abdomen. At first she was panting and had breathing issues. We thought maybe she was egg bound and put her in an Epsom bath. Her breathing has been better. Noticeable wheezing when picked up still. But her mouth isn’t open breathing like when we first discovered it. On day two my husband said her abdomen felt worse. Today I feel like her swollen area on her bottom looks slightly better? He’s at work and hasn’t evaluated her yet. I’ve given her Nutri-Drench and oyster shells. Today I tried Oregano oil drops as an attempt for an antibiotic since a vet doesn’t see chickens and won’t give me a Rx. And Tums for calcium. Should we attempt to drain fluid from her abdomen with a syringe? Any ideas? She obviously is still pooping, although not a normal poop. (I don’t know why pic is turned).

How is your hen? I have one with the same symptoms and same type of breed. I was reading another thread and her chicken ended up having egg peritonitis. She was someone trying for answer on someone else's thread. The original post had the same type of bird with the same symptoms. Sounds like it is common in this breed. I read to get some fish mox to help them, but also read that it is reoccurring.
