I started with 7 eggs in a cheap 7 egg incubstor from eBay, it had a digital thermometer which read 38 degrees but there was nothing to measure humidity.. added water every other day ... half way through around day 10 the incubator broke I rushed them to my mums who was also incubating and she kept them in her bator for the day, however her eggs were due for lockdown the following day so could not stay there. I got hold of a still air bator with bulb as heat source above. I continued in this, purchased a thermometer and hygrometer and placed inside with the eggs. After candling on day 14 I was only left with two viable eggs and they were going strong and moving before lockdown last weds. Temp was 39degrees and humidity raised to 65% Today after zero movement no pips or peeping I candles, one had a really large saddle back air cell witch went up the side of the egg, the air cell was normal when entering lockdown. The 2nd had a perfect aircell. After lots of thread reading on here I decided to make a small pip hole and chip away some shell to see if there was any sign of life behind the membrane, there was not, both chicks were dead. There was no blood and the membrane peeled off easily although was dry like rice paper but the yolk sack was unabsorbed on both chicks. I don’t know but it looks although the chicks are missing their egg tooth, their beaks look short?! Such a shame, theee little guys went through a lot and made it so far and they were beautiful. Rip little babies. Any info on what could have happened greatly received thank you
