Hi,
I have 6 all black 15 week old mysteries. The person I got the eggs from gave me an assortment of australorpe, blue/black americaunas, and "farmyard specials". One would think that I would have a better idea by knowing if more of the brown or blue eggs hatched, unfortunately there was such drama going on in my son's classroom at the time, no one took the time to really pay attention.
Also, is it possible that they are all pullets? I have just removed the one obvious rooster (a different breed) from the group 2 days ago - he was crowing... a lot. No one else is even giving me the slightest feeling of being a rooster. I know from last year that as I removed dominant roosters, the lower ranked ones started making themselves known and I'm wondering if that may be happening. I guess I'm just surprised to only get 2 roosters out of 10 chickens, although I know it could happen.
I hope these pictures are adequate. Lack of cooperation was happening in the coop.
Thanks for any help you can give. I just want an idea of what color eggs to watch for to know that my new guys have started laying when trying to determine if the eggs are from my new or old chickens.
