Hi everyone! I'm back.

I bought 16 day old pullets from our local TSC last week. They had three breeds in one tub - Ameraucana, Rhode Island Red and Buff Orpington. I was hoping for about 5 of each, with the 'extra' one being either RIR or BO. I took the following pic's today, so they are 1 week old. Here's a good sampling of what I have...

Pretty confident these two (plus 3 others) are Ameraucana's. The 1st one is a really dark chick - she's the only one I chose to buy that was dark. But she has the fluffy cheeks just like the others I believe are Ameraucana's.

Rhode Island Red? There are several that look like this one. LOL!

Please tell me this one is a Buff Orpington...and not a RIR. LOL! I really don't care much, I was just hoping for a couple BO pullets. I suspect I have all Ameraucana's and RIR's. But the very blond chick feathering on a few make me wonder if I didn't get lucky & end up with at least a couple BO's.

Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks!!

Well, you don't have any Ameraucanas. You do, however, have some crossbred chicks called Easter Eggers.

As for the others - The reddish one looks more like an RIR, the other blonde ones. . . Do they have yellow legs or more of a pink hint to their legs? Pink means Buff Orpington, yellow means RIR.

Doesn't look like a BO to me. All the BO chicks I hatched out this year had nothing but buff feathers, no darker color mixed in.

I got some Buff Orps from TSC two years ago, they were buff, with lots of brown, and some even had yellow legs. Either they were super bad quality, or New Hampshires in disguise, and they were huge. They were fine pet birds though. Those E.E's look like they are going to turn into two very pretty birds.

I had thought they were Easter Eggers, but because the store had them marked as Ameraucana's... You know... LOL!

I think other than the 5 EE's, I have RIR's...11 of them.

Ha ha - I really don't mind. God knows RIR's are excellent layers and that was my main goal when I went to the store to buy chicks. I was just 'hoping' I would get a Buff Orp pullet for my big BO roo. Not that he seems to care - his favorites are any of the Red Sex Links (Red Star's), one of the Black Sex Links and my Silver-Laced Wyandotte. Not sure exactly what he bases his decisions on, but he seems to definitely have his fav's. LOL! Guess I'll just have to order my BO's when I order my exotic's from MyPetChicken in May.

Thanks!
Cami

It must be TSC...LOL! Although, 3 of them - the 3 I thought 'might' be Buff Orps, do have some pink tinting on their yellow legs. All 5 of the EE's are really beautiful!! My favorite one is the freckled face one, though. She's just so cute & sweet! LOL!

The freckled faced one does look very neat, and proud as well. The top one reminds me of a little game hen (Eva) I have, she hatched out with the same colors. She is a cute brown/black, with a yellow neck, timid, and super sweet. Best of luck with them all, whatever they are!
