Shhhh.... don't tell my husband.

This puts me at 44 littles, aged 1 day to 2 week olds. I really should try to sell some but I am paranoid about doing so and how they would be treated. Unfortunately, no chocolate barred in this batch. I got 1 chocolate out of a hatch of 21 and another out of a hatch of 7.

Their momma is a second time mom. She hatched 13 in December of last year. She is very protective but not a tasmanian devil like some hens can be.

Such darlings! I wish mine were broody!
Just picturing Tree Trunks giving the stink eye.

I am happy to report that there was a chocolate barred in this hatch!!! Momma decided to take them out in the yard while I was at work today and seeing them out in the sun I got a better look. So that's 3 chocolate out of 44!! Not great odds but still.

Thanks GQ. If I recall, your's was solid, or mostly?

My hubby doesn't often go out to the bird's area but probably wouldn't be thrilled. I already had 28, whats 16 more?

He has a hard time remembering that things need to grow up and they don't just hatch and turn into adults. I keep reminding him of this since I raise mine for meat, I've got to have babies in order to fill the freezer.

Hard to say with the newest, the one from last year has whited out a lot and yet has darkened massively, under the wings and belly?? there is the June chocolate.

They look kinda similar so if they scatter he would have a hard time counting! lol
