My sweet little Silkie hen (Dresdy/Dresden) turned out to be a rooster. I purchased her from TSC in early April. "She" suffered a pretty bad injury to her wing a little over a month ago. I nursed her back to health and she rejoined the flock about 2-3 weeks ago. Then I noticed that "she" was trying to mount my other hens. I thought that maybe "she" was just confused, but then I heard "her" crowing.
We already have a silkie rooster named Mouse and we just can't keep two roosters. It breaks my heart that I have to rehome him, but two roosters for our 9 hens is just too many.
I live in Denton, MD on the Eastern Shore. I hope that someone has room for my sweet Dresden!
His feathers are dirty and discolored looking from when he was injured... I'd smeared antibiotic ointment (and BluKote) on him and he gave himself a dust bath afterwards. I tried to bathe him, but I couldn't get it all off.
I will try to take some better photos if anyone would like to see more.
