17wks old. Is she a Jersey Giant?

I bought her at a local feed store that said they buy from Myers. She was supposed to be a black copper marans. She is now 17wks old and much larger than the others.

The feed store happened to find me a couple “BCM” mixed in the wrong cage but only one was was a BCM. Whatever she is they had many there the same as her, so she isn’t a total odd one. I have researched and was thinking a Jersey giant but she has a black everything!But I’m not familiar with that breed at all.

What color are her feet bottoms? I think Australorp have pink feet bottoms and Jerseys have yellow.

Yes, checking the skin color on the underside of her feet could help determine her breed. Yellowish coloring there means she has yellow skin, and that is right for a JG. White or pinkish skin there means she has white skin, and could be an Australorp or Marans.

Straight up yellow. Will it just take time for her comb to become red then if she’s a Jersey? I guess that part made me confused as to her breed.

Once she gets closer to laying, probably. I think Jerseys are slow to mature.

I take that back, they are now solid slate gray. When she was younger they were yellow.

I think her size and shape indicate a Jersey Giant in any case. Can't think what else she could be. The dark skin on her face/comb happens sometimes on black varieties. She may redden up later or her comb could stay dark. Have to wait and see.

Either way she’s a beautiful bird, although wasn’t on my list of wanted breeds lol but that’s fine also.
