I am new to this whole raising chicken thing 
) I have 6 ~ 18 wk old chickens, 3 EE and 3 Golden Comets. 3 of them have been laying eggs off and on for about 2 weeks now. And a 4th just started today -our first pale pink egg! I have noticed in the mornings when I let them out of the coop that some of them have been sleeping in the nesting boxes. I am curious about blocking off the boxes over night, 2 of them have been laying soft shelled eggs early in the morning (before I get down there around 8:00 or even over night). However these eggs are on the ground, not in the nests. I am concerned about deterring them from laying in the boxes by blocking them off........
