Hello! So a couple of years ago I "adopted" 2 chickens and a rooster. I'm not sure how old they are..around 3+ years old. I believe they are referred to as "Easter Eggers/Ameracauna" type chickens. Anyway, I'm a teacher and when we went virtual thought it'd be fun to hatch some eggs. Bought an incubator and now have 6 additional chickens. One started crowing at about 6 weeks, so I knew I had another rooster. About a month ago, I move the young ones in with the older original 3. At first they didn't love each other, but now get along fine. Except the young rooster. He always escapes the coop (I can't figure out how he does this-always when I'm not looking). When I let them all out, he still doesn't mingle with the others. Just always keeps to himself. At night, he only goes back into the coop if I force (carry) him, otherwise he wants to roost in a nearby tree.
Anybody know why he might be like this? He seems healthy otherwise. Is it because there's already a rooster? Thanks for any information/advice.
