Waiting for them to show me that they go in and out of the coop (no stress, just check on them every 30-45 minutes to see if they are in or out, if they are in two checks in a row I toss them out, if they’re out two checks in a row I put them back in so as to ensure they’re getting water ... if I see them in one check and out another, they’re good to go)

then removing the chick size hatch doors on the inner coop and outer run dividers.

How did things go? Any issues?

No none, never have any. It’s the perfect method and it’s thanks to BYC.

I didn’t realize this was a different thread than where this came up earlier today.

within 5 mins of taking out the chick door the EE got into their side so I just opened it and let them all hang out. Later that day I made it back to chick sized doors just so they could be alone when they wanted to be. They have been in the hen side every time I go out there but sleep on their side.
They have another week until I lock them out and they will stay with the hens as I have a new batch of chicks coming. Looking at weather I won’t have any issues with them leaving their heat pad at the 4.5-5 week mark.
