1st button quail chick to hatch

Out of a shipment of 12 eggs, only 3 made it to lock down. Today is day 17 and this little button hatched this morning. Anyone know what color he might be? Still waiting on the other 2 to hopefully hatch.

I don't know much about button quail and colors and such, but I do know that's a cute little button. Congratulations!

And so the button is still alone and peeps so loudly until I put my hand in the brooder, then it cuddles up to it and quiets down. What can I do? The other 2 haven't pipped yet.

Do you have a plush toy to put in with it or a mirror? This will help it think it's not alone.

It didn't like the mirror. I put in a clean duster and this morning I found it cuddled up to it. But it must have imprinted on us yesterday cause the poor thing is going nuts trying to get to us through the glass. It's been crying all morning and only quiets down a bit when my hand is in there with it.

Well the other 2 didn't make it. I did a water float test...no movement. I then candles and was able to see that they were not alive...It's all alone now.

So sorry to hear that...hope it adapts, if not, the prognosis isn't what you want to hear.
