Anyone have suggestions for minor improvements or major?
They’ve lived in here for a few months now and the two oldest just laid their first eggs!
I’ve added a poop hammock and raised their roost bars
I’ve also added a roost bar for their second floor nesting boxes

Nice building!
Hardware cloth over all openings, well secured. Chicken wire is not going to keep predators out.
More ventilation, unless the side not seen is all open.
Is that plywood floor sealed? Use a sealer of some sort, and then bedding.
How is that tarp working under the roost? Curious here!

Nice! Roomy and well-laid out. But in my climate I'd need a lot more ventilation. (You can add your general location to your profile so you can get advice better targetted to your conditions).

If it were my coop I'd add vents up in the gables just at the roof peak and a vent opposite the existing one.

Also, you might find it necessary to insulate the roof to prevent condensation dripping onto the chickens -- depending on your weather and the effectiveness of your ventilation. :)

Wow! What a gorgeous, spacious coop you've built! I think if it were mine (and mine is not as fancy as yours), I'd put in "poop boards" instead of the tarp (mostly for aesthetic reasons, if that's a concern). Also, are the curtains covering the nesting areas hemmed and finished? They might fray if not. I put in a curtain with finished hems 7 years ago on a dowel (although stapling would have been fine; just hard to take down and clean) and it's still in great shape except for some fading.

Please post more photos as you progress! Good luck

I didn’t have hardware cloth for the window at the time I made it, it does pull out after removing two screws so I can put some on.
I can add some more ventilation soon. The area behind me is kept open during the day but closed most of the way at night but still cracked for more air.
The plywood floor has rubber coating on it. 4 or 5 to be exact. I had just cleaned it out and after the photo put some bedding in.
I’m curious about the tarp too! Haha I’ll let you know. First night for it.

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind :)
So far there hasn’t been any condensation but who knows what the future holds :)

The curtain is not hemmed :(
I just took an old sheet and cut it and staples it on there lol
Got my first two eggs today so I thought I should give them privacy lol.
I used the rest for shading on the fence for the afternoon where the trees don’t provide any.
I’ve thought of poop boards, just don’t have materials for it or funds at the moment so I went with a tarp lol

I hear you! Our coop and run looked like a kindergartner made it out of stuff they found at the junkyard when we first started LOL. Yours is 100% nicer looking and you're just starting. Years into getting the coop and run functioning and predator proof (seems like we're always missing something), we're finally getting to making it look better. I also agree with others about the ventilation, which might become an issue depending on where you live, although if your chickens free range most of the day, maybe it won't be so bad. Congratulations on the coop and the eggs!
