I was sooo excited to "find" the first eggs in our new second coop. They may have been there 2-3 days and the only reason I found them, was I saw a small egg under the roost that broke (had yolk) and turned left (usually I turn right) and voila, these tiny eggs, Not in the nest boxes but at the end of them. Our first eggs from the first coop were almost normal size, but then they were 5 months old, different breeds (Buckeye, Sapphire Gem, and Copper Marans mix) not 4 months! I am guessing the Cinnamon Queens and Barred Rocks, due to the feathers in the area. We also have a RIR pullet and 2 Black Stars (who are larger than the CQs). We have only had chickens for 1.5 years but it's still exciting. I cannot hold them all but when I go out...they come to me, I have treats. Just had to post as not many, except on this site, would understand.
