I tried a run of my Blue Splash Marans and only had 2 that pipped their shells. After 4 days none other pipped or even made noise. I finally decided to open it up and take the ones that pipped their shells out. I had to run warm water over them since their egg lining had dried to them. I kept the humidity at 50% to 60% and temperature at 100. I let the incubator go 3 more days then removed all the eggs. It ran 28 days. When I opened a couple of shells they were not fully formed some still having some yolk left. Some were rotten.
The shells are so dark it is near impossible to candle them.
I am doing a second run in my wife's classroom of the Golden Lace Wyandottes that are bred with my Blue Splash Rooster. It is on day 12 and I candled those and removed only 6 eggs on yesterday.
