I was surprised on Wednesday when I went to collect the eggs that 2 of my ladies had laid in their droppings board (not their nest) and one was soft like the picture below. The next day all 4 eggs were normal and in the nest box so I’m hoping it was minimal stress. ? It has been VERY hot and humid. I have extra water out in multiple places around the yard plus a low pan of water they can stand in if need be. They have oyster shells for extra calcium (though I’ve never seen them eat any) and a good layer crumble. They also get a handful of black fly larvae at night when they go into their run. So no major environmental changes. Do you think the heat can be causing stress? They are laying in the bushes in the shade most of the day.
