My neighbor has a free range flock of 4 roosters and 8 hens All about 1.5 years old. One of the lower roosters has taken on reponsibility for my flock (also 1.5 years old) that Iive in a coop with large fenced run. He has walked a track around their run for the past 6 months. He is very sweet and friendly to us humans. Every day he waits for my girls to be released from the coop and he will run the fence line to show them where the food it. We have had a terrible problem with some feather peckers in the flock and are considering adding this fella. Our neighbor has approved. I've read that it's as simple as throwing him in with the flock. Is that true? Will adding him in really help the feather pecking?
