My flock has a lot of cecal poop so i wanted to try the fermented. I soaked an ice cream pail of layer feed with 1-2 tablespoons of acv. There was no bubbling. It sat for around 15 hours. Another is soaking for tomorrow so sitting for 35 hours. Stirring but no bubbles yet at 24hrs. Am I doing it right? They absolutely loved it! Hoping to see a change in poops. They are approximately 18 weeks, not laying yet....waiting impatiently!

I wouldn't add the acv. It isn't necessary to add any kind of starter. It needs to be somewhere warm and it will take around 4 days to start bubbling. Then you save a bit to make the next batch. I make enough to feed out with a bit left over then just add more food and water without rinsing out the container and by the next day it's ready to go again (provided its warm enough). Mine has been going for over a year now.

Do a search on this site and you will find lots of input on fermented feed. How fast it takes to ferment has a few variables, one of which is room temperature. I usually let my food ferment for 3 days before feeding. It's probably at least 24 hours before I see any bubbles.
