Hi my lovely Darcie (Muscovy) has been very dedicated sitting on her eggs but gee whiz she has gone from loving cuddles to I'll eat your hand off if you go near my eggs

My question is if all goes well eggs are due to hatch next week and if I am lucky to get baby ducks should they be kept separate from my other females and Drake? Or will they be okay? I am so excited I have had heaps of baby chickens but this is first time for baby ducks. My duck area including pool is very secure no predators can get in to them.

How exciting! yes, i would recommend that you fence her off after they hatch, provide feed/water accessible by young. Since you have no current knowledge of how the flock will react it is best to slowly transition her back in, drakes are known baby killers and even other ducks can be a bit rough.

I have bred enough here where i know how mine will behave so my mama and her current brood were back with the flock quite quickly, but knowledge of past reactions is key with this.

We'd love to see pics!

Thank you both for replying back. I will secure them in safe place and monitor reactions of the rest before I let them socialize with with them all, I will start today and put everything in place and keep my fingers crossed for successful hatchings. I will def post pics if all goes well.
