i have two goose eggs in lock down. they were in the same bator with my chicken and duck eggs. today is suppose to be their hatch day, but there are no pips, no chirps, no shake or rocking. the duck egg in the same bator just hatched 5 days early. how much longer should i give the goose eggs to hatch. i candled them just about every night when i took them out for a cool down, development was on schedule, and they were moving around. i candled the day before lock down and there was no movement. one egg has a large air cell and the other normal. any advice would be helpful.

I have been incubating geese for the first time, also. They are eggs from my geese. In the beginning of the season, many of the eggs were not fertile but now they all seem to be. The first to make it to lockdown was rocking and wiggling but it died in the shell. I increased humidity. Now I have 2 more in lockdown. I can't see any movement though but the egg is so darn full so I'm just waiting. Sometimes I think I hear sounds coming from the incubator at night (its next to my bed) but no pips yet.

They developed well. The one that died was a perfect little gosling, with egg tooth. It was sad but I guess some just don't make it and that's life. Let me know how yours are going and when you hatch one.

Geese can take up to 32 eggs to hatch, some take longer. The temps in your incubator make a difference too, so I'd just wait. If there are no external pips you can open the bator to check them, just try not to move them. You should be opening it to spray them with water anyway. But candle them on the big end and you should see if they have pipped internally, it takes from 1-3 days after the internal pip before they hatch.
