I purchased a ISA Brown hen. They told me she turned a year old in April of this year. I have been feeding her Grubbly farms and she seems to have intergrated well with my little flock of 5. The only issue is i purchased her 2 months ago and she hasn’t laid a single egg.. I purchased a barred rock around the same time and she started laying the very next day we brought her and hasn’t stopped laying since. it’s June and very warm here with nice weather. Not sure if this is normal? How long should I wait? She seems healthy and normal. Picture attached. I checked for mites and nothing. Give them fresh water daily. They free range. All my others are laying.

I agree, she looks like a layer with that red comb, she has a hidden nest.

How long should you wait? Well there really isn't anything you can do. If she truly isn't laying, you can just keep her, or make soup. I would spend a day near the coop, and see if she sings and where. But there is nothing you can do to make her lay if she is not laying.

It certainly looks like an egg laying chicken to me
Are you sure she is not laying somewhere outside in the free range area?
How do you differentiate your hens eggs to who laid what?
Hi, thanks for reply. I’ve looked everywhere and she isn’t laying anywhere. I only have 6 and 4 are blue/green egg layers and the other is the barred rock. I’m assuming isa browns would lay brown eggs and I only get one light brown egg from the barred rock. Not sure what could be up with her.. eats and drinks just fine. But, can’t have a free loader 😅 it’s been two months.. any other reasons why else a hen wouldn’t lay?

...that you've found. They are sneaky.

Might be time for an exam:

Then maybe.....
Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop/run for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.

Do you think she might be older and the seller just said that she was one year old? That could explain it. Or maybe she didnt lay for te seller and that is why he sold her?

Maybe… but she still hasn’t laid anything lol I did start noticing these.. it’s been twice I see this. Very tiny & filled with clear fluid.. any clue ? My other hens are laying just fine and they are on layer feed with oyster shells
