CURLED TOE PARALYSIS
Due to deficiency in riboflavin
Clinical signs: Chicks may actually die before signs appear. Poor growth, diarrhea, and weakness. Rest and walk on hocks due to inability to extend the hocks and progressive inward curling of the toes. Mortality is high by the 3rd week.
Necropsy: Peripheral nerves (especially sciatic nerves) are swollen. Histo hypertrophy of Schwann cells, demyelination.
If short-term disease, can recover with riboflavin supplementation
