This morning I went out to check on my chicks and one was limping.

She is 2 1/2 months old, her behavior is alert but she is limping and holding up one foot. It is swollen and greenish in color. I have 8 other chicks - they have no symptoms.

I live in Phoenix - and was out of town with a family member watching the girls. They had water, and storms which led to wet conditions in the coop.

I checked their feed and mold was in one feeder so she has potentially eaten moldy food.

I’ve attached images of her foot and the coop.

Aside from holding up her lame foot and limping, she seems fine.

Thank you for any assistance.

Yes, green skin is usually bruising. It is swollen slightly, could be a sprain or possibly a fractured foot. Holding it up, it should heal in a couple of weeks. If she gets worse, you might need to limit her activity, no jumping up and down to roosts. Wire dog crates with food and water are helpful to keep them with the flock while limiting activity. Provide shade.

Wonderful, glad to hear! That green is so alien- looking, isn't it? I wonder, next time you see something like that, if an Epsom salt soak would give some relief? 🤔
