My 12 Rhode Island Reds were all laying at the first of the month (January 2018). By the end of the first week they slowed way down , and by the 8th no eggs. After about 5 days we got 1, then 2 eggs for a couple of days. At this time we are back up to 9 eggs. I am curious as to what could cause this. I keep timed lighting in my coop . We had power fluctuate one day, had temperature dip for a bit into 20s and lots of rain. Any ideas why this would happen? not griping, mind you, just curious (but oh so thankful).

Pauses will happen for many reasons. Things like running out of water, loud disturbances, drops in temperatures, feed changes, things that are slightly stressful will cause pauses. Many hens don't lay daily nor consistently through the season, so it's not unusual.
