Mother-Hen-Michele
Crowing
Hi, this little girl is 2yr 7+months old, I believe she still lays (but she may not be super regular) She is my most fierce egg breaker
so she might be costing me more eggs than she produces (giggle)
She has never been poorly a day in her life and hates to be handled. Normally she is out the door as soon as the door is open in the morning and today my spouse opened the door so I don't know if she was true to form but when I went in to clean the overnight poo fest, I found her perched in the sleeping area. I offered her first go at a fresh corn on the cob, which she declined (no chicken does that!) So I scooped her up and she did not object. (she normally hates to be handled) I brought her to the house and offered her the most amazing treats, she didn't care for ANY of them.
Pics are the poo that was under her perch, then the poo she made for me in the house.
It is crazy hot these last few days and very humid, she is often getting into things she shouldn't (if there is a mucky puddle she will find it first and need to be shooed away from it)
First pic is poo on floor "as it was" the second is same poo scraped up tighter for picture purpose.
Third is in house poo "as was" the fourth is same poo blotted up on white toilet paper to show it more clearly and from underneath. The pics seem a little red in the house, poo was more transparent than that to my eyes.
I Washed her and found no tell-tale yeast in her feathers but there was some dried dirt (she is a really devoted dust bather) Her skin is a bit tight, but not much. I found no signs of fly-strike but I washed her thoroughly and dusted her bum with diatomatious earth in case there is a bite that has not exploded yet (and to show any curious flies this is not a good place to raise babies. *Growling sound meant to scare off any opportunistic bugs)
I washed her legs and applied Vaseline as she doesn't normally let me handle her and she has some little bit of scaly mites.
I gave her a little crop massage and found nothing odd except that it was empty and she normally has a good appetite.
I put a pearl sized amount of Canesten in her bum in case this is an early yeast infection.
By the way ... One of her sisters (same age, same type, same breeder) had a yeast infection very recently. Can this be contagious or is this just them aging ?
