I have 2 broody chickens. The first one went broody 3 weeks ago and she has been in her own coop that is 8x10 with an enclosed outside pen for a couple months now because we were trying to integrate her (and her man) with the main flock--then she when broody. This coop is attached to my main coop and is within the main coop run... Basically an enclosed coop/run with in a bigger coop/run.
The other chicken has been broody for the last two weeks, she is in the main coop. I have been removing the eggs from under her because I really wasn't sure if I wanted to hatch more.
But I am curious--can I put the two broody's in the same smaller coop or is that a bad idea? Will they b ugly to each other? Today is hatch day for the Cochin! I'd like to move the Australorp in there as well and give her her own clutch of eggs.
Anyone ever experience this? Will the mama protect her babies? Will the other broody get picked on? Will the two mama's have issue w each other? And what about the rooster?
Do I need to throw him out w main pop now that the babies r coming or will the mom's protect against him--or will he not even care?
Any advice is appreciated.

You are dealing with living animals so no one can give you guarantees with any of this. The odds are really great that if the rooster is around when the chicks hatch and Mama is raising them that he will consider them his, whether they are or not. He might ignore them or he might help Mama raise them. It is extremely unlikely that he will harm them. If you wait until they are old enough to be a rivals instead of his to put them together yes, there might be problems.

I suggest you do not put the two broodies together, especially right now. Many people have broodies hatch together, even on the same nest, and the broodies work as a team to raise the chicks. But it is also possible the broodies will fight over the eggs or chicks and harm them. I had two broodies on separate nests once. When the first broody’s chicks did the internal pip and started chirping the two broodies fought over the eggs and destroyed half of them. If I were you I’d let he first broody hatch and keep the two broodies separated. If you want to give the second broody eggs, do so, but keep them separated.
