A coworker is gifting me his chicken coop, sans chickens. The new coop will be slightly larger than my existing one. I am debating between trying to conjoin it with my existing coop or setting it up separately but within the same run area. Thoughts? Tips? If you have a similar set up to either scenario I would love to see your pictures.

Thank you!

Nice gift from your coworker!

If you plan on getting into breeding, you might want to keep the birds separate and in different coops/run. Same goes if you decide you want to add smaller breeds like Silkies or Polish...they would most likely do better separated from the larger dual-purpose birds.

If you're going to stick with the birds you have now, I'd join the new coop to the existing one if possible to give everyone more room inside.

Depends on how big the new coop is and how many birds you have.
They will want to stay together, so don't expect them to use both coops.
If the new coop isn't big enough for all birds, conjoining might be better.
