A friend hatched a couple babies on Sunday and gave me a call today to ask what to do. She is new to hatching and wasn’t comfortable keeping and tending to the chick so I met her and the chick is now with me.

I put corn starch on the belly where the yolk is leaking and it has stopped.
There were 2 Moms fighting over the babies so I’m thinking this one got stepped on.
I’ve given it some Poly vi sol and it is resting comfortably on a heating pad. Anything else I can do to help it out or just give it a day to rest?

@nightowl223, I’m farmilar with Mushy Chick but from what I’ve experienced that is typically from incubation malfunctions. These were under Mom’s so hopefully that is not what we are dealing with.

It's from an infection started during incubation. Whether the incubation is in an incubator or under a mama hen, it doesn't matter. I do hope it's something different, but just the fact that it was incubated under a hen doesn't matter one way or another.
