I had a immature silkie die a couple weeks ago, I didn't know what she died of, she had some blood around her beak but otherwise looked fine.
Then today I found a full grown chicken probably 2-4 years old, dead in the coop. It looked like she might have fallen off the roost because she was below it in an awkward position, my husband said she looked like she broke her neck, but I just though she curled in a weird position as she dead. She was found laying on her side with one wing extended over her head and her head was curled under her body. She had no visible wounds or blood. Her comb and waddle were purple, and I checked the vent and it looked fine.
I have never had a full grown chicken die from anything but predators so I am not sure what to expect or what is normal. What should I do now?
