If they were dying off at 30 degrees, that'd be one thing. -10 is pretty significant. I would expect only relatively strong and healthy birds could survive that for any length of time. Others in "poor" condition (for whatever reason) may not make it.
It may not necessarily be related to the cold......it may just be problems with those birds specifically however the stress of dealing with this SUPER cold weather was too much for them.
As soon as you loose an otherwise strong and healthy bird, my opinion will change. But until then, if you are losing the weakest of the flock, in severe weather conditions.....I would expect it is just that.
