2 eggs!

I posted this elsewhere, but I just had to say it again. We put a light in the coop, and have 2 pullet eggs! It ain't much, but I'm so happy!:

I'm thinking I might have to try that! I'm starting to get impatient...even though my pullets are only 19 weeks today. It's been horribly hot. They've been "checking out" the nest boxes and occasionally sitting for a minute or so then leaving. The one Red Star that was looking good and red and mature got snatched by a dog when she jumped the coop fence last week. Sigh... I feel like I'll probably be waiting til October or even next spring if I don't try the light trick.

Yes, LynnGrigg, try it! It seems to have done the trick for us dh set a timer to turn the light on at 4:30 a.m.

You're so right, lurky and csguinn. I never would have thought I'd be so excited about a couple of eggs!!!!

Congrats! Ours are 22 weeks old and no eggs yet. We had them at the fair last week. The kids got to run around and collect all the eggs from the other hens and now they are bitting at the bit to collect some of our own. Enjoy!
