Im not sure what attacked my chicken. He is 2 months old. Cochen. He is as big as my "big" chickens but he does stay separare with two other 2 month olds. He was free ranging when I noticed he was bleeding from his neck all the way down his leg. I brought him in and cleaned him up as much as he would allow me. I sprayed vetericyn on his wounds. He was missing a chunk of skin from his neck about 1 inch wide and 2 inches long. I then noticed he had more skin missing from under his wing about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. The bleeding was stopped and he was acting normal. I held him until we went to bed and then made him a clean place to stay with a laundry basket and bedding in the bottom with food and water. I dont know what else to do with him. I dont want an infection to start. He is such a sweet chicken... This morning I put him in our dog cage out in the grass so he could see his friends in a safe environment, as well as get some bugs and grass.

What should I do?

its hard to get any type of cream or gel on it.... because there is no skin. I can see straight into the muscle and the skin just slides around on top whenever he moves. I used Vetericyn which Should prevent infection. The stuff works miracles I have used it on my horses for 2 years. Also my dog. Should I keep him away from his friends?

My virtually skinned patient was kept separated for a week. If the wounds stay clean, healthy tissue soon starts growing in. I had no problems putting her back with buddies at that point.
