We brought home 6 chicks on May 3rd (born May 1) and a few are showing signs of being male. One is crowing considerable already so I'm not even posting a photo of "him." However, a few of these 5 pictured show other signs of aggression, size, etc. I've read all about comb size/color, overall size, etc but none of that seems to be consistent as it often depends on the breed.

What are your thoughts and why? Thanks

1 cockerel.
2 cockerel.
3 pullet.
4 cockerel.
5 pullet.

The cockerels have huge red combs. Pullets don’t redden until they’re at least 16 weeks old. Comb colour and growth doesn’t really depend on breed with 9 week old chicks. Even pullets of Mediterranean breeds like Leghorns and Andalusians (notorious for the big combs) don’t grow combs that large until they’re laying.

Okay so I know this completely is not answering your question but I just find it funny that I have a pullet very similar to your last red pullet and I have a cockerel that looks just like your cockerel #4 minus feet color but the feathering color and comb are almost just alike. I did not purchase mine though. They are from a hen next door. All your chicks are so pretty. I just think it's funny how similar 2 of mine looks to yours.
