Hi, I live in northern Illinois, 60548 area, and have a beautiful pair of New Hampshire Red Chickens that are in need of a new home. I live in a city with a "no chicken ordinance," so I've been keeping them at a friend's acerage a few miles from me. The owner of the property does not want the rooster as it could pose a threat to neighbors. The rooster's name is Ceasar and he's big, beautiful and not at all vicious, especially if you hand feed him or offer a treat. But the property owners have neighbors with small children and they allow their 5 Wyandotes to free range. Ceasar will guard the flock, which is his job. The hen and rooster are between 8 and 12 lbs. apiece and she lays big light-brown eggs. I'm sure you could raise chicks if you so desired. I raised these two from the time I adopted them from a third grade science project. They've always been gentle big birds and do not fly, so cannot get out of penned area. If you have a place for them, I'll give them to you. I did not want to butcher. If interested call Sue at 815-786-9969 or cell 815-786-4352. Thanks
