2 out of 12!

So my pekin went broody and was sat on 12 eggs. After candling the egg on day 16 or so only 5 eggs were developed! On day 23 one chick has hatched so I examined the eggs again and only 1 was good all the others seems to of stopped growing i noticed a shite load of red mite in the coop and the hen ! So I cleaned the coop and the hen but still red mite remains! So I decided to try and save the last egg and put the chick and the egg under a heat plate as that is all I had! My hen is now mite free and with the other flock. And baby 1 is fine and healthy! 2 days ago I noticed the egg was pipping (to my surprise ) yesterday the egg hatched! And is thriving! I'm so happy I manged to save the egg and I am so surprised it hatched under a heat plate!! So I got 2 baby's out of 12 I'm gutted but so glad i saved the 2!..
