I am looking to start keeping layers, so I would like to start with two.
I live on the Big Island of Hawaii.
I'd prefer 2 breeds, but want good reliable egg layers that do not have a reputation for wandering off.

I recommend you get more than just two chickens. They are very social animals and they need companions.
For the breeds, you could try black Australorps and maybe Rhode Island Reds.
