I have 2 rooster and 3 hens and live in western PA. It has been really cold at nights. I have a small red light in the coop. For the past week, one rooster stays in the hen house and the other 4 hang out and sleep on a perch outside the hen house in the coop. Our coop has polycarbonate roofing panels attached to wire on the coop walls to shield the chickens from the wind and snow. My son and I have been moving the 4 four outside to the hen house and closing them in at night since the temps have been freezing.
why are they not going into the hen house? could the red light be the problem?
