Hi. I have 3 Dom hens, 6 mixed pullets, and 1 Buff cockeral (about 3 mos.) I plan to buy 1 Rhode Island Red cockeral and 2 pullets. Since the cockerals are young and will have time to adjust to one another, will they be okay together? Or, will this be a mistake? I don't want alot of fighting. They will all share the same coop.

IMHO I have so far had two experiences with having two roos at once. In both cases, if the roos are together(even in a large space), one will become dominant and will pick on the other. It may not be actual fighting, but in both cases, the non-dominant rooster has been continually picked on until injury occurs.

I have 4 Roos per Bachelor pad.I do start by only having good disposition Roos but mine all get along fine...they snuggle together actually. Oh they occasionally squabble but no more than the hens do and never a Roo injury yet.
Now, I have read but no experience that only 2 roos will fight if your keeping them together it needs to be more than 2 so they can't establish a dominance.
We are building another bachelor pad this weekend actually:D

I'm planning on building a chicken tractor as a bachelor pad for my roos. I've got too many and don't want to get rid of any of them. They'll earn their keep in the garden
