Hi there my just over two week old mallard ducking dropped in paralysis all of a sudden yesterday afternoon. It’s been overnight and ‘her’ eyes are still shut. ‘She’ twitches when I touch her and every once in a while as well as let’s out a sharp peep. She’s been sleeping and has opened her mouth a couple of times throughout. I have been putting water on her bill and in the palm of my hand which she drank a little of. She has pooped and peed. I have force fed her garlic water and a homeopathic remedy. Before she dropped she was in a stream where she drank and pecked around. She forages freely and might have eaten or drank something as she had ingested pill bugs, other insects and grasses. She mostly ‘chews’ them but doesn’t always swallow as she can’t bite off pieces very well on her own. She eats dirt and gravel and other things she picks up when I don’t catch her in time to remove them. I have been feeding her 20% chick starter unmedicated with nutritional yeast as well as watermelon, grapes, peas, corn, chickweed, lettuce, seaweed, wild rice and a mix of sunflower seeds, flax, sesame seeds. All blitzed into tiny pieces and soaked in water, greens cut or shredded into little ribbons. She has been eating well and had no issues up until yesterday when she dropped into a stiff neck and outstretched leg paralysis. It didn’t last long but she has been twitching when touched and eyes closed since then. What can I do to help my baby? I can take a video, don’t want to move her more than I need to at this point. Thanks in advance.
