Hello,

I have 5 eggs under a broody hen. Last time she hatched eggs she threw the chicks out, even skinned one!
This time, I can hear some cheeps and would like to remove the eggs no place them under a heat lamp to hatch .., the weather is hot At the moment anyway so I don't think cold will be any issue...
Do you think this is feasible?
Many thanks in advance.

Humidity is very important for hatching chicks. Make sure they have a 60% humidity or so while they are hatching, so they can get out of the egg. Make sure it is around 97-99 F during the hatch.

Best of luck with your chicks! I'd love to see some pictures.

Thank you Gita Books. I have put some cups of water near, hopefully that will help with the humidity. I am a real beginner and I am not sure how to measure the correct temps ... Thank you x

Feel how warm and moist the mother's broody patch on her belly is and try to copy it in your home-made incubator. You can learn how to make simple, home-made incubators elsewhere on the internet.

Hope it all works out well!
