I tried on day 7, but to be honest didn't really see anything, from then on we just left everything alone. Loroca wasn't to friendly to the idea. Now day 23 and I continue to wait, my 10 year old even wanted to camp next to the hen... How long should we wait? What to do next? If I buy a baby chick, would that help the hen brake her broody mood?, she must be as frustrated as we are. Will she stay like this fore ever??
ohhh the expectation for at least one peep.

oh broody hen...I know absolutely nothing about a broody hen. I have incubating on the brain, have 8 eggs going into lockdown tomorrow. Hope someone comes along who can help you out!!

I've had late hatches under broodies, so they may still surprise you

Take a flashlight and find a dark spot where you can candle them. Shine the light through the fat end of the egg where the air sac is. Here's some pics that shows what it should look like:

If they don't look viable, see if you can find some day-old chicks that you can give her to raise instead. You can slip them under her at night and remove the eggs at the same time.

Thank you for the hope, we will give her today still. She is tiny and the weather hasn't helped much so maybe..hopefully..we can have a peep.

If nothing happens we will go out and buy a chick for her to take care of, place under her wed evening.
