First, congratulations on the well built coop! That's the first line of defense at night. I have no idea what that critter might have been, but it looks like it's moving fast! Do you have coyotes where you live?

That's what the coyotes look like around here!

Well, we do have coyotes around here. Lost two hens a couple months ago to a fox who lifted up a hatch that had a latch broken on a hatch that had bricks on top but didn't matter. Stopped the fox from eating them but already rang their neck. Could be either someone told me when mama fox has kits a lot of the time they can lose hair and the tail on this looks beat up. I think the coop is rock solid now with a new latch since the ground was never a weakness but I'm always nervous. I'm sure it'll be back to try again.

The legs dont look as dark on the outdoor camera as they do in the photo. Tail makes me think fox, legs coyote.

I would def say its a fox. At least he went away empty handed.
