So I added an egg to an incubator 25 days ago. I candled it yesterday and I can see a large shadow on one side, but it disappears when I turn the egg to the other side. There is an air sac. The egg is not pipped, nor do I hear or see any sign of movement.
How do I know that the egg stopped developing or that the chick is not alive? I heard of a water test but I'm not sure if I should do it...

If this is a chicken egg on day 25 with no movement and no pip then it is most likely no good.

So there's no possibility that it is alive...I feel bad about throwing it away :(
Guess I'll wait for my chicken to lay some new eggs now. Oh, just to explain: my chicken refuses to sit on any of her eggs, hence why I put them in an incubator.
Thank you for the replies!
