26 wks and counting....No Eggs

Oh ... and if you care to check, their vents will look soft and moist rather than tight and dry. And their pelvic bones will move farther apart, which you can feel with an external check. One finger width between the points of the bones is a sign of not laying, three fingers' width means a hen is laying or soon about to.

Some girls just mature later than others. ;) I have 5 BLs but I didn't get 5 white eggs until they were at least 30 weeks old anlthough some were laying as early as 20. Maybe they were all laying but just not all on the same day. I still don't get 5 white eggs very often.

Wow 32 wks, 5 out of the 7 girls are laying now We think the Jersey Giant and the buff Polish are the last hold outs. :wee

Great to hear you are getting eggs! Yes, Jersey Giants mature slower, so they may wait until spring. Our BJG was the last to lay in her batch (she is now 22 months old). The younger BJG female is 22 weeks old and certainly does not look anywhere near laying -pretty sure it will be full in spring before she produces any eggs.
