My chicken eggs seem to take 27 days to hatch when the broodies sit on them. Is this normal? I've done the normal 21 days for incubation but they always take 27. Is there a reason this happens and can I stop it? Or are my eggs just special? Thanks :)

I've had an egg hatch on day 25 once, but 27 is unusual. Are they really huge eggs?

It's possible you bantams body heat is lower than 37.5C so they are taking longer to hatch

Try incubating in a bator and see how long it takes

dry hatch is when using NO water so only what the humidity is naturally in air is all thats used

then during lockdown fill the troughs with water to up humidity

I am trying that this time I only have two soda bottles filled with water with the covers off them in my bator. It is running about 30% Which is what they suggest for a "dry hatch".
