I have an Americana 29 weeks old still not laying although all the others we got at the same time and are the same age have been laying for like 9 and 10 weeks... ??
Once in a while she'll squat but not with any consistency and she's has had a red comb for as long as everyone else has. She seems very healthy, good appetite and no lethargy which would tell me she might be laying internally. I've searched the yard for green eggs with no luck, they are out to roam all day. She sometimes sings with the other girls when they sing the egg song, and occasionally will go hang out in the coup when other girls are on the nest, like she's a midwife or something
She's at the bottom of the pecking order and often the target of our Queen Victoria BR for a random bullying. Could she be bullied out of laying? She's super sweet and always comes to sit on my lap when I am outside, or will come running for comfort after she's been bullied -- quite the mama's girl. I have never found any injuries on her. She'll never be a candidate for the soup pot, but is it possible that she just won't ever do it or am I rushing her because we've been so anxiously awaiting our green eggs?
Thanks for any insight anyone might have.
