We hatched a single chick with no idea what the parents look like and need help identifying the sex and breed. Does anyone know? He/she is two months old.

Thanks for the reply JanetS. Do you think it's a cockerel because of the comb or are there other signs?

Looks like a cross between a BR, dominique, or cuckoo marans and a yellow roo(not a BO because legs are yellow). HE is a single barred black sex link male. If you breed him with a BR you will get double barred yellow roos and single barred yellow hens.

That statement is false. Barred Rocks, Dominiques, and cuckoo Marans are silver-based. Silver is dominant over gold/red. Their male chicks, when crossed with a gold/red rooster are black and white (silver) barred with some gold/red leakage in the hackles and saddles. This chick does have barring, but it's red/gold based color. It's likely a mix of two mixed breed birds.

If we have a rooster we can't keep him. We live in the city limits that don't allow it. We are located in Warner Robins Ga. Would anyone like to add this sweet chick to your family?
